An open letter to young parents

Raise your children or the world will, with its drugs, sex, and violence. No one cares about your children like you do. Your children do not want things. They don't want a Nintendo or a pool or a nice car. They don't want Dad and Mom both working every single day. They want you in their life—teaching them, guiding them, correcting them. Children require sacrifice. They are costly. They cost us time, money, energy. They keep us from the pleasures that we enjoyed before they were born. You will not be able to have the things you want, if you want happy, healthy children. Play games with them. Stay home with them. Read to them. Sell your second car. Teach them about God. Do whatever it takes.
